Here at Clapham Corner we are passionate about caring for the environment and working towards a sustainable future for our planet. To this end, we are in the process of developing and implementing various eco-friendly policies.
Carbon Neutral
At present, we are in the process of researching ways in which we can make this business carbon neutral. We hope to launch a carbon neutral policy within the next 6 months. This space will be updated when we do.
Printing
Once upon a time, a young woman was sitting at a bus stop enjoying her book. There was nothing particularly special about either book or woman, but it drew the attention of a young man who felt the need to speak up.
“A physical book?” he asked.
She looked up in surprise. “Yes…?”
“Don’t you know that’s bad for the environment?” he continued. “All that paper…”
As frustrating as it is to be accosted in such a way while reading, we must admit, the man had a point.
Books do use a lot of paper.
For this reason, we are in talks with an eco-friendly printer regarding the printing of our physical books going forward. Whilst we do not currently feel able to disclose any of these details, our hope is to be able to print on recycled paper with a printer whose environmental policies we are comfortable with and confident in.
As for the book already published, Amidst the Ash, we hope to release a second edition in 2024. This second edition will be printed in accordance with the policies we are currently developing.
In the meantime, we only keep limited stock available. People are of course still welcome to purchase the book, but by limiting how many we print at any one time, we hope to reduce the environmental impact of this book.
We are also aware that some people may like to print off a copy of any eBooks we release. You are welcome to do so, provided you only produce one physical copy per purchase, and that you do not attempt to sell it on. If you are going to print them, we encourage you to think about how you do so. We encourage printing 2 to a page and double sided, as this will quarter the number of sheets of paper you will need.
This space will be updated when further information is available.
Shipping
All our shipping will be done using compostable mailers from noissue. The work they do is incredible and I am excited to begin partnering with them in this endeavour.
Unfortunately, whilst the mailer the books arrive in will be compostable, it will be sometime before we are able to transition to compostable shipping stickers. Part of this is due to lack of availability with AusPost. We will, however, keep an eye on this situation and make the change as soon as we are able.
