The Time-Mender

In memoriam: Alan Davison 1936 - 2024 “Old and full of years”

Deft hands and nimble mind lean forward,
working hard with clockwork precision,
a man of few words, he keeps life ordered,
considering well before his decision.

And time passes with the tick of his clock,
through children and work, in faith and with love,
he lives with joy, till the end starts to knock.
Hands falter. Mind stumbles. Gears become caught.

There is still love and faith as he slips away,
his mind an hourglass of falling sand,
until Death comes a-calling one grey day,
and delivers him into God’s own hand.

One day, he will be raised in splendour,
for he is with the one true Time-Mender.
